NICHOLSON, Robert Johnston, a Representative from Jefferson County; born, Westmoreland County, Pa., on February 9, 1823; attended, Greensburg Academy; quartermaster and first lieutenant, Company B, 105th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1861-1862, Civil War); teacher; engaged in real estate; farmer; dry goods merchant; lumberman; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1857 term; judge of the election board, Brookville; reelected to the House to serve the 1879 and 1883 terms; died while in office, February 22, 1884 in Days Gap, Caldwell County, North Carolina; interred, Brookville Cemetery, Brookville, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania.
