AYRES, Enoch J., a Representative from Bradford County; born, September 20, 1828 in Wantage, Sussex County, NJ; lieutenant colonel, 25th Regiment, New Jersey Volunteer Infantry (1862-1863, Civil War); farmer; engaged, mercantile business; elected, alderman, Patterson, NJ; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1882; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1884); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State Senate (1892); died, August 21, 1914 in Towanda, Bradford County, Pennsylvania; interred, Wysox Cemetery, Wysox, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.
