JONES, Benjamin Franklin, a Representative from Philadelphia County; born in Huntingdon County, Pa., July 27, 1832; first lieutenant quartermaster, 59th Regiment, 2nd Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry (1862-1865, Civil War); printing apprentice (1849-1852); publisher, The Raftsman’s Journal, Clearfield, Pa. (1854); publisher, the American Era, Tyrone, Pa. (1854-1856); employed, the Evening Bulletin, Philadelphia (1856-1862, 1865-1900); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1887 and 1889 terms; died, November 24, 1909, in Gwynedd, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania; interred, North Wales Baptist Church, North Wales, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
