BAKER, Jesse Matlack, a Representative from Delaware County; born, March 1, 1854 in Parkesburg, Chester County, Pa.; attended, Hyatt’s Military Academy (now Pennsylvania Military Academy); attended, United States Military Academy, West Point, NY; captain, Company H, 6th Regiment, Pennsylvania National Guard (1877-1898); major, United States Army (1898, Spanish American War); teacher (5 years); lawyer (1880-1913); elected, District Attorney, Delaware County (1881-1886); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as Republican in 1888 and 1890; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1892); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1893-1896); died, July 30, 1913 in Media, Delaware County, Pennsylvania; interred, Media Cemetery, Media, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
