LAUCKS, John R., a Representative from Berks County; born, July 18, 1839 in Boyertown, Berks County, Pa.; corporal, Company B, 88th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1861-1863, Civil War); corporal, Company D, 198th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1864-1865, Civil War); elected, city council, Reading; volunteer fireman; secretary, Junior Steam Fire Engine Company No. 2 of Reading; inspector, Pennsylvania & Reading Railroad (44 years); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1892; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1894, 1896); died, October 25, 1916 in Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania; interred, Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania.
