RICHEY, Joseph Taylor, a Representative from Allegheny County; born, November 29, 1844 in Economy Township, Beaver County, Pa.; carpenter; engineer; postmaster, United States Postal Service, Dixmont (1874-1882); freight and ticket agent, Dixmont Station, Pennsylvania Railroad (1874-1882); appointed, deputy sheriff, Pittsburgh (1882-1912); elected, director of the poor, Allegheny County (1886-1893); president, school board, Kilbuck Township; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1892 and 1894; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1896); appointed, delegate, Farmers’ National Congress (1896); agent, Burton-Townsend Brick Company of Ashtabula; died, May 4, 1921 in Edgewood, Ashtabula County, Ohio; interred, Edgewood Cemetery, Edgewood, Ashtabula County, Ohio.
