NEWMAN, Albert Scott, a Representative from Bradford County; born, February 16, 1842 in Eaton Township, Wyoming County, Pa.; corporal, Company B, 26th Regiment, Pennsylvania Emergency Militia (1863, Civil War); clerk, mercantile store; proprietor, mercantile business; farmer and dairyman; elected, school director; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1892 and 1894; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1896); died, March 27, 1916 in Canton Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania; interred, Main Street Cemetery, Canton, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.
