ANDERSON, John Hope, a Representative from York County; born in New Park, York County, Pa., May 2, 1912; graduated, Fawn Township High School, 1930; attended, Mercersburg Academy; attended, Gettysburg College; fruit grower and owner, Bel View Farm; blockman, International Harvester; public auction clerk, Sechrist Auctioneers; school director, Fawn Township (14 years); member, Fawn Township Republican Committee; member, York County Republican Committee; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1961 term and served 10 consecutive terms thereafter; elected, Minority Caucus Secretary (1977-1978); elected, Majority Caucus Secretary (1979-1982); appointed, Legislative Budget and Finance Committee (1967-1982); appointed, Speaker's Committee on Tax Reform (1970); appointed, Pennsylvania Commission on Interstate Cooperation (1975-1978); appointed, Speaker Pro-Tempore; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1982); died, May 26, 2005 in Red Lion, York County, Pennsylvania; interred, Centre Presbyterian Cemetery, New Park, York County, Pennsylvania.
