ELY, Dr. Harry Birney, a Representative from Wayne County; born, April 16, 1866 in Sugar Run, Bradford County, Pa.; attended, Susquehanna Collegiate Institute (now Susquehanna University); M.D., Jefferson Medical College (now Sidney Kimmel Medical College), 1886; physician and surgeon; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1896; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1898); director, Honesdale Dime Bank; unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State Senate (1906); elected, council, Honesdale; proprietor and treasurer, Ely Lumber Company and Kimble Lumber Company; director, Wayne Milling Company; medical inspector, Wayne County, Pennsylvania Department of Health; died, October 25, 1925 in in Honesdale, Wayne County, Pennsylvania; interred, Glen Dyberry Cemetery, Honesdale, Wayne County, Pennsylvania.
