SANNER, William Henry Harrison, Sr., a Representative from Somerset County; born, January 24, 1840 in Turkeyfoot Township, Somerset County, Pa.; attended, George’s Creek Academy; attended, Mount Union College; sergeant major, Company C, 54th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1861-1863, Civil War); second lieutenant, Company G, 54th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1864-1865, Civil War); elected, superintendent, Somerset County schools (1866-1870); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1871 and 1872 terms; engaged, lumber business; chair, Somerset County Republican Committee; elected, prothonotary, Somerset County (1891-1894); reelected to the House for the 1897 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1898); died, May 23, 1931 in Westmont, Cambria County, Pennsylvania; interred, Husband Cemetery, Somerset, Somerset County, Pennsylvania.
