EMERY, James Delos, a Representative from Mercer County; born in Delaware Township, Mercer County, Pa., November 25, 1859; graduated, Edinboro State Normal School (now Pennsylvania Western University, Edinboro), 1880; teacher; attorney (1885-1915); elected, District Attorney, Mercer County (1891-1893); elected, chair, Mercer County Republican Committee (1893-1895); elected, school director, Mercer; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1897 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1898); attorney, board of Poor Directors, Mercer County (1900); cashier, Farmers and Merchants National Bank (1901); elected, Pennsylvania State Senator (1901-1904); died, December 27, 1915 in Mercer, Mercer County, Pennsylvania; interred, Mercer Citizen’s Cemetery, Mercer, Mercer County, Pennsylvania.
