RHODE, Cyrus, a Representative from Berks County; born, June 11, 1852 in Greenwich Township, Berks County, Pa.; attended, Keystone State Normal School (now, Kutztown University of Pennsylvania); teacher (15 years); elected, school board, Kutztown (12 years); bricklayer; baker (11 years); elected, council, Kutztown; elected, justice of the peace, Kutztown; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1894 and 1896; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1898); secretary and president, Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Company of Berks and Lehigh (21 years); elected, controller, Berks County (1915-1918); engaged, lumber business; elected, prison inspector, Berks County (1925-1930); died, December 21, 1931 in Kutztown, Berks County, Pennsylvania; interred, Fairview Cemetery, Kutztown, Berks County, Pennsylvania.
