McCaskey High School, 1952; B.S., Millersville State Teachers College (now Millersville University of Pennsylvania), 1956; M.Ed., Temple University, 1962; attended, Westminster College, 1965; attended, Widener University, 1967; attended, University of Pennsylvania, 1968; served, United States Army Reserves (1956-1962); teacher, Lampeter-Strasburg School District (26 years); administrative assistant, Republican County Chairman (1965-1967); chair, East Lampeter Township Planning Commission (1970-1973); chair, West Lampeter Township Planning Commission (1975-1977); secretary and treasurer, board of supervisors, West Lampeter Township (1977-1982); vice chair, Education, Lancaster County Republican Committee (1979-1982); secretary, Inter-Municipal Government Commission (1979-1982); vice president, Township Supervisors Association of Lancaster County (1980-1982); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1982; served 9 more consecutive terms; appointed, board, Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (1989-2002); not a candidate for reelection to the House (2002).
