MCNEES, George Washington, a Representative from Armstrong County; born, August 15, 1854 in Worth Township, Butler County, Pa.; attended, Hanner Highland College, Tn.; attended, Indiana Normal School (now Indiana University of Pennsylvania); teacher; engaged, stoneware business; elected, treasurer, Armstrong County (1887-1890); elected, sheriff, Armstrong County (1893-1896); chair, Republican Party of Armstrong County (1894); elected, delegate, Republican State Convention (1894); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1897 and 1899 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1900); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1905-1909); unsuccessful campaign, United States Congress (1912); died, July 12, 1922 in the city of Ventura, Ventura County, California; interred, Kittanning Cemetery, Kittanning, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania.
