Biography

1846 - 1918

Born on July 11, 1846, Jenkintown, Montgomery County, the son of Joseph and Esther (Hallowell) Heacock, Joseph attended public schools; Abington Friends’ School and Friends' Central School, Philadelphia; assisted his father on the family farm through 1871; worked for three years in a Pittsburgh iron factory; supervised a limestone quarry near Uniontown; returned home to the family farm where he assisted his father with improvements and built a floral business at Wyncote.  He served as auditor of Montgomery County, 1906-1908, and as a state senator, 1911-1914.  Senator Heacock died March 18, 1918.
