Early Life:

George Brinton Sprowls, born March 15, 1862, on a farm, East Finley, Washington County, Pennsylvania; son of Simeon and Mary Montgomery Sprowls; public school education; private normal school, West Finley, Pennsylvania; Washington and Jefferson College, 1884; school director, Claysville, Pennsylvania, twenty- three years; delegate, School Directors Convention, Washington County, three years; married, Caroline A. “Carrie” Stillwagen Sprowls, 1890, children, Harry Vincent Sprowls, Mary M. Sprowls, Lena Frances Sprowls Kelly, George Bryan Sprowls, Thomas Wray Sprowls, Helen G. Sprowls Ross, Margaret K. Sprowls Miller; solicitor, Latrobe borough, 1895; burgess, Claysville, 1902; president, Pennsylvania and Atlantic Sea Board Hardware Association 1919-1920; died, February 25, 1941 (aged 78) Claysville, Washington County, Pennsylvania; interment, Claysville Cemetery, Claysville, Washington County, Pennsylvania.
