1859 - 1944

Lumberman, farmer, and banker; Born June 10, 1859, died Dec. 16, 1944; buried Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville, PA; never married, the son of Thomas L. and Catherine (Gray) Sones; trained as a teacher; bookkeeper throughout his life; settled first at Wolf Township, Lycoming County; timber-land and lumber mill business; after first term in Senate, pursued business interests in the Central Pennsylvania Lumber Company; resigned position and returned to Senate for a second term; member Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hughesville; an important legislator to Lumber Co. interests and railroads, etc. Investor in transient lumber town of Masten.
