John Oscar Sheatz, born February 27, 1856 Lehigh County, Pennsylvania; son of John and Amelia Troxell Von Steuben Sheatz; public school education; one term, Preparatory Department of Muhlenburg College, Allentown; appointed, employed, Baldwin Locomotive Works; engaged, coal business, real estate business; treasurer, Frank Queen Publishing Company, New York; member, First Regiment, National Guard of Pennsylvania; elected, Republican, House of Representatives, 1903-1908; Pennsylvania State Treasurer, 1908-1911; elected, Republican, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1913-1914; married, Elizabeth Harvey Queen Sheatz, 1885, children, Marion John Sheatz, Elizabeth Sheatz; died, June 25, 1922, seized with a stroke of apoplexy as prepared to take morning bath, Hotel Raleigh, Atlantic City, Atlantic, New Jersey; interment, West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
