Biography

1820 - 1882

Hon. Charles H. Seymour was born August 21, 1820, at Bath, Steuben County, NY; the son of Joseph Seymour.  He moved as a youth with his family to Tioga, Pa., attended public schools; read law with state Senator John W. Guernsey; was admitted to the bar in 1847; and opened what proved to be a successful practice.  He served one term in the State Senate from 1876 to 1880, and then retired to his Tioga County law practice. He died June 6th, 1882.  The senator married Lydia Anne Humphrey.
