Biography

1876 - 1944

Attorney, Sharon, Pennsylvania; Fred Service was the son of John and Ella (Williams) Service, born in Mercer County, October 10, 1876; educated at Sharon High School, Washington-Jefferson College, and George Washington University, District of Columbia, graduating in 1901 with  a law degree (LL.B); member of county and state bar associations; established law practice in Sharon; general counsel to the multi-state Protected Home Circle; Director, First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Sharon; Mason; member of the Episcopal Church; elected to the state Senate to fill James Campbell’s vacant seat (died 1919) in November 1920, serving the remainder of one term.  He married Anna L. Vaughn of Youngstown, Ohio, 1907.  The Senator died on June 13, 1944.
