Henry D Saylor
Senator Saylor was born in Pottstown, Montgomery County, PA., October 22, 1857, the son of Isaac and Leah (Renninger) Saylor. He attended public schools and graduated from Pottstown High School; read law with Thomas J. Ashton, Esq., and E. Coppee Mitchell, Esq., of Philadelphia; graduated from Penn law school in 1882; admitted to the Philadelphia bar the same year; admitted to the Montgomery county bar in 1883; served two terms of three years each, 1885 to 1891, as a member of the town council of the borough of Pottstown, and three terms, of one year each, as its solicitor, 1891 to 1893; elected to the Senate November, 1894. Member of the U.S. Diplomatic Corps: American Consul, Matanzas Cuba; Dawson City, Yukon Territory; and Coburg, Germany. Senator Saylor married Dora B. Gerhard, October 14, 1885. He died on January 27, 1912, Pottstown; interred in Mount Zion Cemetery, North Coventry Twp., Montgomery County.
