Horace A. Tompkins was the son of Milton J. and Amry Elisabeth (Patchin) Tompkins, born May 2, 1873 in Nebraska. The family moved from Fremont, Dodge County, Nebraska to Ebensburg, Pennsylvania, where Horace is shown as a Lumberman in the 1900 Census. He was elected to the state Senate, serving 1915-1920, and listed as a minister in 1920. He married Estelle Guyley.  Horace A. Tompkins died in Ebensburg, Cambria County, January 10, 1923.
