Biography

Early frontier explorer and Indian trader.
Parents: Lazarus and Elizabeth (aka Etta) Campbell Lowrey; died about 1725; married 2nd Ann Boggs Lowrey.
Brother of  Col. (Sen.) Alexander Lowrey of Donegal, Lancaster County; James was the son of Lazarus L. Lowrey.  Janmes Lowrey was an Indian trader in Western Pennsylvania with associate George Croghan and Barnard Gratz, Liverpool Shipper in Philadelphia.  The two were particularly important to the Pict Tribe in the Great Lakes Region.
James and brothers Daniel and Nathaniel were instrumental in constructing Fort Fetter in what is now Blair County during the Revolution: both owned considerable tracts of land in the area.
The second oldest child of Lazarus and Anne.
