George LANDON, 88, of Herrick, Bradford County, died yesterday June 16, 1904.
Born Dec. 4, 1816, Luzerne County; rural education; graduated from Wesleyan University, Connecticut; New England Conference, Methodist-Episcopal Church; preached for eight years in Malden, Boston, and Springfield Massachusetts before throat was damaged; moved to Herrick where he became Presiding Elder, Wyalusing District – Wyoming Conference(1854-58); a successful farmer, and a major force in politics.  Member of the Wilmot Free Soil and Republican caucuses; a close friend of Senator Wilmot; elected to the state Senate, 1859-1861; 1866-1868; mercantile business and farming, 1869-1881.
