Arthur E Kromer

Arthur Kromer was born December 2, 1902, in Adrian, Armstrong County, the son of Christ and Elizabeth Harvey Kromer; Arthur received his education in public school, limited in his area to grammar (elementary) school alone. He pursued the glass manufacturing business, later employed with the B.R.&P. Railroad at Punxsutawney. In 1918, he was employed by the Vega Coal Co., at Valier, before suffering a serious injury, recovering to gain a position with the Sanitary Dairy of Punxsutawney, rising from driver, to plant manager in 1930; and within five years, he initiated a dairy business of his own – Kromer’s Dairy. Kromer became a member and president of the Punxsutawney borough council; school director, 1949; and director of the Farmer’s and Miner’s Trust Co. of Punxsutawney. He served in the state Senate six years. He died on March 4, 1962.
