Clarence W. Kline was born on October 25, 1852, Jerseytown, Columbia County, Pennsylvania; attended public schools in Lancaster County; returned to Columbia County at 14, completed his early education, applying for and retaining a teacher’s job at Derry school.  He moved to Luzerne County in 1869 where he taught and hired as principal of the Jeanesville School; he read law; joined the bar, and entered private practice at Hazleton in 1877; chosen delegate to the Republican State Conventions in 1876 and 1878; practiced law; served as a member of the school board, council, and elected to the state Senate in November 1892.  He died on January 24, 1918.
