Born July 12, 1875, the son of Thomas and Rosanna Kilgallen, Pittsburgh, Thomas E. Kilgallen was educated in public schools; St. Vincent’s College; St. Mary’s College, Emmittsburg, Maryland; and Duquesne Law School, graduating with a Bachelor of Laws; practicing attorney before all local, state and federal bars; served as Solicitor for the Board of Registration Commissioners, Pittsburgh; member of Labor’s Non-Partisan League; served in the US Army in both the Villa Campaign and WWI; served in 1944 and 1950, as President of the Pittsburgh City Council; and married Madeline Burns on June 19, 1937. He resigned his Senate seat on January 11, 1940. The senator died on April 14, 1957.
