Biography
1850 -
Henry Heller was the son of C.D. and Henrietta Heller of Hellertown, Northampton County, born on September 18, 1850; was educated at Claverack College. N. Y.; graduated from Bellevue Hospital Medical College, N. Y., 1871; returned to Hellertown where he practiced medicine the remainder of his life. He also served four years as president of the United States Medical Examining Board (district); and was elected to Senate November 6, 1894; received an appointment from Gov. Stone to the office of State Quarantine Physician; developed financial interests in the Thomas Iron Co. of the Lehigh Valley; owned a limestone quarry, and initiated the Hellertown Board of Trade, 1888; leader of the Northampton Republican Caucus; and participant in numerous state and local conventions.
