Early Life:

Edward W. Helfrick (R), born in 1928, in Pottsville, son of Edward and Elizabeth Rosenberger; Mt. Carmel High School, 1945; married Rosemarie Ciokajlo; 5 children.

Early Career:

Paratrooper, U.S. Army, 11th Airborne Division, 1945-46; member, American Legion Post #804, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge, Eagles, Ralpho, Atlas, Marion Heights, Kulpmont West End Fire Company, Queen of Most Holy Rosary Church; director, 1st National Trust Bank, Susquehanna Bancshares, Incorporated.

Awards:

Pa. State Fish & Game Protection Association, Gold Medal Award, Pa. for Right to Work Statesman of the Year Award, National Federation of Independent Business Guardian of Small Business Award, Pa. Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs Legislator of the Year, Lincoln Heritage Institute Guardian Award.

Pennsylvania Politics:

Pa. House of Representatives 1977-80; elected to Pa. Senate 1980; chair, Game & Fisheries Committee; vice-chair, Environmental Resources & Energy Committee; member, Agricultural & Rural Affairs, Finance, Military & Veterans Affairs Commission; left office August 22, 2003.
