Joseph Fry, Jr
Biography

Born in Upper Saucon Township, Northampton (later Lehigh) County, Pa., August 4, 1781; Joseph attended rural schools; engaged in merchandising in Fryburg (later Coopersburg), Lehigh County, Pa. He was a member of the state House of Representatives in 1816 and 1817; served in the state Senate 1817-1821; served in the state militia and attained the rank of colonel; elected to Congress, 1827-1831; and was not a candidate for re-nomination in 1830. He resumed business activities and was a member of the state constitutional convention in 1837 and 1838. He died in Allentown, Pa., August 15, 1860; interred in Union Cemetery.
