Early Life:

Albert V. Belan (D), born in 1930, in Munhall, son of the late John and Helen; died July 11, 2011; Munhall High School, 1948; University of Pittsburgh, 1966; Pennsylvania State University, 1967; Wilson College for Minority Judiciary certification for District Justice, 1975; married Elizabeth Vehec; 1 daughter.

Early Career:

U.S. Army, 1951-52; district justice; police officer, West Mifflin Borough; member, McKeesport Elks, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Elizabeth Moose, Lions Club (president 1986-87), Croatian Fraternity Union, Greek Catholic Union, Homestead Slavs, Slovak Civic Federation of Pittsburgh, West Mifflin Drug & Alcohol Council, St. Ann’s Slovak Church, Duquesne Tamburitzans Parent Organization; president, 1st Catholic Slovak Union Branch 628.

Pennsylvania Politics:

Elected to Pa.
