Father of state Senator Levi Foulkrod, John Foulkrod of Frankford Twp., Philadelphia Co., was born March 8, 1792, Philadelphia, the son of Jacob and Mary (Bouderman) Foulkod. He was a delegate to the 1838 State Constitutional Convention; served as First Lt., Thompson’s Regt., Pa. Militia, War of 1812; was a member of the Philadelphia’s Teacher’s Institute (the city’s first organized school board), a member of the state House of Representatives, 1827-1828; and served a single term in the Senate, 1844-1846. He died on July 11, 1862. The senator married Mahala F. Lukens.
