Of Northumberland County, John T. Fisher was born on January 2, 1854, Allenwood, Union County, the son of Thomas T. and Annie Addis Fisher; attended public schools; trained by his father, worked as a blacksmith through 1885; a railroad mail clerk for the Pennsylvania Railroad; was appointed chief mail clerk for the PRR at Harrisburg, 1888-1889; pursued merchandising; returned to the blacksmith trade; served in the state House of Representatives, 1901-1903; state Senate, 1913-1914; and died in office, January 15, 1914. He married Martha Elizabeth Riddell.
