1768 - 1850

Born in Karnamady, near Londonderry, Ireland in 1768; emigrated and settled in Rapho Township, Lancaster County with his parents William and Elizabeth Dysart in the 1770s.  He married Eleanor Patterson of Lancaster County in 1794, and in the same year, received a land warrant located at the present site of Sinking Valley, Blair County.  Alexander was an Indian trader; possessed three separate farms; He was a member of the state House of Representatives, 1807-1812; 1815; elected to the state Senate, 1816-1820; and served as a Huntingdon County Commissioner.  He died on February 8, 1850, 81 years and 9 months, interred in the Sinking Valley Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
