Portrait: Governor’s Album, PSA
Born in Upper Dublin Township, Montgomery County, November 11, 1828; attended common schools; farmer; wheelwright; school director in Whitpain, Montgomery County nine years; county auditor, 1859-1865; served two years in state Senate, 1877-1878. He was a member of Boehm’s Reformed Church of Blue Bell in which he served for 40 years as secretary, and a charter member of the Montgomery County Historical Society. He married first, Hannah Holland, and second, Sarah Ann Dull. He died near Blue Bell, Bucks County, Dec. 15, 1900, from pneumonia and old injuries sustained after a train hit his wagon at a railroad crossing.
