Born in Chester County, July 16, 1773, the son of Samuel and Anne (Futhey) Dale; moved to Northumberland about 1790; elected to state House of Reps 1792, elected to the state Senate, 1795-1800; moved to Franklin, Venango County, again elected to state House, 1808-1812; Lt. Col., 32nd Regiment, Pa. Militia, War of 1812, commander during the Erie Campaign, 1812-1814; moved to Lancaster after the war; school director, 1822; incorporator of the Lancaster Academy, second President of Lancaster School Board; 1837-1839; married Elizabeth Gundaker of Chester, Pennsylvania, 1812; died in Lancaster, September 1, 1842.
