Biography

1794 - 1877

Of Clinton County, born in Lamar (now Clinton County), Pa., March 8, 1794, Joseph Quay was the son of Joseph Robert and Sarah (Fearon) Quay. A founder of Clinton County. Surveyor, helped lay corrective lines of Lycoming County in 1831. Commissioner attending to the construction of the Bald Eagle and Clearfield Turnpike Road Company, 1839;  appears as if he had a son, Thomas, who went to Frederick Maryland by 1880, with a 13 year-old son named Joseph Fearon Jr. 1839, Auditor of Clinton County. Died September 23, 1877, interred at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mill Hall, Lamar Twp, Clinton County. Age 82 years, 11 months, 9 days.
