Biography

1846 -

Born near Rosemont, Delaware County, November 1, 1846, the son of Daniel and Susanna (Snyder) Gyger; John Gyger was educated in Radnor public schools; attended Village Green Military Academy and Friends Central School of Philadelphia.  John’s wife’s name was Eliza B.  He worked as a civil engineer in Western Pa., returned to Radnor in 1869 and pursued the masonry business; moved to East Pikeland Twp., Chester County and worked as a farmer and creamery owner, doing business as the Sunnyside and Maple Springs Creameries; was a member of the township road committee and school board, elected president of the latter.  He served as director of the Grange National Bank of Downington.
