1857 - 1929

Son of Albert G. and Rebecca Dickenson Green; born in Reading on May 3, 1857; attended public schools; graduated from Reading High School; received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale in 1877; was admitted to the Berks County Bar, 1879; Superior Court of Pennsylvania, 1880; and permitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court in 1900.  Green was elected to the state House of Representatives, 1883-1887; state Senate, 1889-1896; Captain, Co. G., 9th Pa. Vols., Spanish American War; organizer of the United Spanish War Veterans Association; U.S. House of Representatives, 1899-1903; formed the Reading Telegram Publishing Co. with brother Herbert, 1903-1912; president of the Reading Telegram; president, Reading Real Estate Exchange; delegate to the Kansas City Democratic National Convention; instrumental in the construction of the Reading Hospital; a champion of home rule charters; attorney in Texas representing oil interests, 1920; died in Reading Dec. 29, 1929, interred at Arlington National Cemetery.  Senator Green never married.
