Born January 17, 1836, Philadelphia, Harry Gransback attended public schools; apprenticed as a moulder at age 13; served in the Emergency Militias of 1862 and 1863 during the Civil War; was an Asst. Assessor of Internal Revenue, 1864-1865; pursued the scrap iron and metal business; served as a member of the state House of Representatives, 1895-1900; the state Senate, 1901-1906, filling deceased Senator George Holzworth’s seat through 1902; was reelected to a full term November 1902.  The senator died August 31, 1918
