Biography

1753 - 1831

The son of Irish immigrants John and Jane Gilliland, William Gilliland was born in 1753, Menallen Township (near Biglerville), Adams County, the homeplace originally referred to as Gilliland Mill.
Settled near Gettysburg, Married Catherine Fleming 1777, and later, Mary Galbraith 1807; was a soldier in Revolution; justice of the peace; associate justice of Adams County; died July 12, 1831 near Gettysburg, interred in Hunterstown Greater Conewago Presbyterian Cemetery
