Born in Ellwood City, Lawrence County, Pa., on February 25, 1955, Jim Gerlach was the son of Jack A. and Helen Fitzgerald Gerlach of Ellwood City, Pennsylvania. He earned a B.A. degree at Dickinson College, Carlisle, 1977; a J.D. at Dickinson School of Law, 1980; lawyer, private practice in Chester County; member of the Pennsylvania state House of Representatives, 1991-1994; the State Senate, 1995-2002; elected as a Republican to Congress, 2003; did not run for re-election in 2014. He married Karen Devanna and has 3 children and 3 step-children. Resides in Chester Springs, Chester County, Pa.
