Vivian Frank Gable
Born in Hummelstown, Dauphin County, April 13, 1873, the son of the Rev. Dr. Israel M. and Mary C. (Blessing) Gable; attended public schools; Central High School, Philadelphia, 1887; received a Bachelor of Arts degree, 1890; Wharton School of Finance Univ. of Pennsylvania, graduated with honor, 1892; Law Degree from Univ. of Pennsylvania, 1895; admitted to Philadelphia County Bar, July 1895; private practice; appointed Judge; filled vacancy in 8th Senatorial District, Philadelphia, Jan. 1906, vice Horatio Hackett, decd.; Chair of the Lincoln Party faction of the state Republican Party; commissioned Chief and Real Estate Deputy Sheriff, Philadelphia, 1920; appointed by Gov. Fisher as Judge of the Philadelphia Municipal Court, 1931, serving until his death of a heart attack at the wheel of his car on November 19, 1937. He married Mary Groves Scargle on June 30, 1898 in Philadelphia; she died in 1917.
