WHITTEN, Charles E., a Representative from Westmoreland County; born, January 17, 1869 in Burrell Township, Westmoreland County, Pa.; graduated, Indiana Normal School (now Indiana University of Pennsylvania), 1887; teacher; lawyer (1893-1948); elected, chair, Republican County Committee (1899); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1902; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1904); appointed, judge, Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas, Westmoreland County (1921); elected, judge, Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas, Westmoreland County (1921-1942); died, January 20, 1948 in Greensburg, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.
