MAINE, Constance G., a Representative from Crawford County; born, Brownsville, Fayette County, Pa., October 28, 1942; graduated, California High School, 1960; attended, California State College (now Pennsylvania Western University, California), 1960-1962; B.S., education,  Indiana State College (now Indiana University of Pennsylvania), 1964; graduate work, University of Pittsburgh and The Pennsylvania State University; M.A., community studies, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, 1986; teacher and school counselor; director, Meadville Center for Families in Change; lecturer; author; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1986 and 1988; appointed, chair, Select Committee on Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Services in Pennsylvania (1990); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1990); communication consultant, Pennsylvania House of Representatives; member, Pennsylvania Commission for Women (1990-1992); appointed, member, Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (1993-1995).
