WALKER, James A., a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, October 5, 1878 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa.; LL.B., University of Pennsylvania, 1900; lawyer (1900-1946); member, 30th Ward Republican Executive Committee, Philadelphia (1901-1905); 46th Ward Republican Executive Committee, Philadelphia (1914-1924); gubernatorial appointee, honorary delegate, Atlantic Congress for a League of Nations; secretary, Commission to Codify and Revise the Laws of the Commonwealth Relating to Banks, Private Bankers and Trust Companies; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1917, 1919 and 1921 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1923 term; appointed, Secretary of the Commonwealth (1927-1931); died, October 5, 1960 in Malvern, Chester County, Pennsylvania; interred, Westminster Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
