TUNIS, William Shaffer, a Representative from Dauphin County; born in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pa., May 9, 1869; attended, Harrisburg Business College; president, Mount Vernon Hook and Ladder Company, Harrisburg; engaged in book and stationery business (40 years); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1908 and 1910; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1912); unsuccessful campaign, treasurer, Harrisburg (1931); appointed, mercantile appraiser for Dauphin County, Pennsylvania Department of Auditor General (1934-1935); auditor, Bureau of Disbursements, Pennsylvania Department of Auditor General (1937-1938); died, August 1, 1944 in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania; interred, Harrisburg Cemetery, Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
