MORRIS, Samuel Wheeler, a Representative from Chester County; born in Atlantic City, Atlantic County, NJ, August 21, 1918; B.S., Harvard College, 1940; J.D., University of Pennsylvania Law School, 1949; captain, Corps of Engineers, United States Army (1941-1946, World War II); attorney, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius; attorney, Cremers, Morris & Greenwood; farmer; executive board, Chester County Council; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1971 term and served 8 nonconsecutive terms thereafter (1973-1978 and 1981-1990); appointed, Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (1985-1990); unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the House (1978, 1990); died, December 17, 1995 in South Coventry Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania; interred, Saint Peters Church in the Great Valley Cemetery, Malvern, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
