STEVENS, Allen J., a Representative from Cumberland County; born in Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pa., July 22, 1897; attended, Carlisle High School; private, Company G, 8th Infantry, Pennsylvania National Guard (1916, Mexican Border); served, Company G, 112th Infantry, 28th Division, Pennsylvania National Guard (World War I); first lieutenant, Troop D, 104th Cavalry, Pennsylvania National Guard (World War II); executive officer, troop and squadron commander, 104th Cavalry Regiment, Pennsylvania National Guard; colonel, 4th Army Corps, Assistant Inspector, General Desert Area, United States Army; director, Reserve Command and General Staff School; Brigadier General, United States Army; traveling salesman; engaged in automobile business; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1923 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1925 term; postmaster, United States Postal Service, Carlisle (1939-1963); died, January 1, 1980 in Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania; interred, Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania.
