SHREVE, Milton William, a Representative from Erie County; born, Chapmanville, Venango County, Pa., on May 3, 1858; attended, Edinboro State Normal School (now Pennsylvania Western University, ); attended, Allegheny College, 1881-1882; Ph.B. and A.M., Bucknell University, 1884; lawyer; elected, District Attorney, Erie County (1899-1902); chairman, Erie County Republican Committee (1900); director, People’s Bank of Erie; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to the 1907, 1909, and 1911 terms; appointed, Acting Speaker (November of 1911-1912); not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1913 term; secretary, Western Judicial District, Division 2, Federal Draft Bureau, Erie County (1913-1914); elected, United States Congress (1913-1915, 1919-1933); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to Congress (1932); member, Executive Local Option Committee, Pennsylvania (1918); died, December 23, 1939 in Erie, Erie County, Pennsylvania; interred, Erie Cemetery, Erie, Erie County, Pennsylvania.
